Research-Based Dyslexia Training Using the Bridges Program
Bridges Training at the Springfield Center for Dyslexia and Learning provides educators with high-quality, research-based instruction in structured literacy for students with dyslexia. Designed for teachers, special education professionals, and school districts, this training equips educators to deliver effective dyslexia intervention with confidence.
Bridges is a two-year dyslexia intervention program developed by the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Scottish Rite for Children. It is based on the nationally recognized Take Flight curriculum and approved by the Texas Education Agency.
What Makes Bridges Unique?
Bridges combines live teacher instruction with a virtual co-teacher, Ms. Hallie, who delivers the most complex components of dyslexia instruction, including:
- Precise letter-sound relationships
- Correct mouth and facial movements for phonics instruction
- Consistent modeling of structured literacy techniques
This blended model ensures accurate, consistent instruction while allowing students to progress at an appropriate pace.
Student Instruction Model
Students receive structured literacy intervention through one of the following schedules:
- 60-minute lessons, 4 days per week, or
- 45-minute lessons, 5 days per week
Teachers lead approximately 75% of each lesson using scripted materials, while Ms. Hallie co-teaches for 15–20 minutes per session.
