Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) Training

Springfield Center for Dyslexia and Learning offers a two-year therapist training program using Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia, a curriculum written by the staff of Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.

Trainees will learn to implement an Orton-Gillingham based multi-sensory language therapy program called Take Flight, which addresses the five components of effective reading instruction identified by the National Reading Panel’s Research.

  • Vocabulary
  • Reading Comprehension

Our training includes 120 hours of instruction and continued support and mentorship throughout your training cycle. We supply materials to work with one student or one small group.

Take Flight Introductory Training:

2024 Summer Training Introductory Training is scheduled for July 15th – 26th , Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm; Workshops are the second Thursday of the month: September 12th, October 10th, November 7th, February 6th, April 10th.

Cost: $3,600

Take Flight Advanced Training:

2024 Summer Take Flight Advanced Training is scheduled for June 17th – 28th, Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4 p.m;  Workshops are the first Thursday of every month: September 5th, October 3rd, November 7th, February 6th and April 3rd.
