My daughter has been going to SCDL for 1.5 years. There are so many advantages to sending a child there who is challenged by reading difficulties. The staff has always been so knowledgeable and helpful in sharing with parents how to advocate for their child at school. In addition, talking with the other parents there creates a community and framework of support about the successes and challenges their child has faced. Hearing from other parents describe not only academic successes but seeing their child become more confident in themselves at school is priceless.
I have seen tremendous growth in my daughter just this year as she has moved up five levels in reading at school! She is also spending much less time on homework and becoming more independent in completing it. At the beginning of the year we would work on homework an average of one and a half hours per week. Now, she is able to complete it in an average of thirty minutes a week! I can’t say enough great things about SCDL and the advantages my daughter will have for her entire lifetime because of this intervention.
