11 Apr Adrien’s story, Part 1
When my parents had me tested and diagnosed with dyslexia I was 12 years old. I’m 14 now and want to share with you my last 2 years. When they told me about my diagnosis, I was confused and honestly thought it was a “sickness”. Then they showed me a video about it and the video showed that 1 in 5 people had it including a lot of famous and successful people. When they told me about a place in Springfield that could help me, I was scared to go and was nervous to meet new people. Also, I worried that I wouldn’t be able to participate in Jr.high sports. But my parents and Jennifer made it possible for me to be able to do that. I’m glad I got the opportunity to do this program because it changed my life in a good way. Since I have started, I feel like my reading and how I pronounce words are WAY better than it has been before. I also feel like I have gained confidence socially. Thank you to my parents for always getting me there on time (well most of the time) and pushing me to be the best that I can be and this wouldn’t of been possible without you guys. And especially thank you to Jennifer for contributing to my educational success and putting up with me 3 nights a week! I never dreaded going because I knew Jennifer would make it fun and we both could make each other laugh. This wouldn’t have been possible without her either. This program has definitely been worth it, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is struggling like I was and sticking it out till the end.
